Our Story

Our story began on March 19th, 2015.

Well, it’s kind of a funny story. My roommate intended to set me up with another boy she thought I might like (primarily because he was tall) and Kendal had sort of been pursuing another girl, but couldn't decide if she was worth the time and effort. Through mutual friends, we ended up at the same bonfire one night at Second Dam up Logan Canyon. To put it this way, I was more interested in the smores I planned to stuff my face with than the guy my roommate wanted to introduce me to. As for Kendal and his date, it just wasn't happening between them. In his words, "she was just kind of a dud". On the other hand, there I was, being crazy and cracking ridiculous jokes, polar opposite to this "dud" date he had and naturally he was just pulled right in by my charm (HAH HAH LOL).

However, at the end of the night, he didn't try to get my number. So I figured that was that.
But Kendal had another idea in mind….

Kendal knew my roommate’s boyfriend from high school and told him after the night at the fire that he thought his girlfriend’s “tall roommate” (aka me) was cute. He wanted to take me out on a double date with them. Even though I tried to act as cool as a cucumber when my roommate's bf told me this, I was stoked that the cute guy from the fire had really noticed me!

We went on our first date and hit it off immediately! We had the best time roasting hot dogs and bowling. At one point while the boys were away collecting wood for the fire, Shaydra (my roommate) whispered to me how well it looked like it was going. Neither of us seemed to be holding back on being ourselves at all! At the end of the night, Kendal FINALLY got my number.

March 28th, 2015.

Kendal asked me to go on a second date with him (and if you notice, you'll see that he actually implemented the "three day" rule guys are always talking about in the movies). This time, it was just the two of us. The evening was filled with loads of fun and tons of talking. We got to know each other well that night. Kendal shared one of his greatest passions with me, music, and I totally swooned as he played the guitar and sung. Our night lasted until the early hours of the morning because we really just couldn't pull ourselves away from the magical time we were having. When he dropped me off at my doorstep, he left me with a kiss that kept my head spinning through church the next morning. From that night on, we were basically inseparable.

Evenings were filled with disco skating, hammocking, fires, and of course lots cuddling coupled with deep questions that helped us bond quicker than either of us had ever imagined.

April 4th-6th, 2015

It was General Conference weekend. We each went to our homes to be with family. I was so excited to tell my mom and dad all about the boy I was crushing on and Kendal watched the Conference sessions with the question of whether or not to date me seriously on his mind. On Monday, he came back to Logan to tell me that he had received a strong and clear answer to drop everyone else and see where the road would take us.

Things continued to move along and the giant “L” bomb danced on the tip of both our tongues. Though this wasn’t the day we told each other how we felt, it confirmed what we were both feeling. Kendal asked me if I had ever said those three words to a boy before, which I hadn't. Kendal then told me, “Well, if I was the first boy you said those special words to, I wouldn’t mind”.

We did something that felt so high school to me and became boyfriend and girlfriend. And thus, the dynamic duo was born.

May 7th, 2015

During a game of sharing secrets, ranging from quirky pet peeves to more meaningful topics, Kendal said those three sweet words to me after a moment of silence. I'll never forget the moment he said, “I just thought of two more secrets. One, you’re beautiful. And two, I love you.” GOSH. That boy is such a charmer!

I had recently returned from volunteering at a kids camp for a week and after a few days of not being able to see or talk to each other, we decided we couldn’t live without each other! So we found a time to go look at rings to seal the deal.

August 27th, 2015

Neither of us had never envisioned a quick courtship, which can be so common in our religion's culture. So we decided to wait until the end of summer to make the engagement official. Even though I knew that was what I wanted, the wait to get the ring on my finger felt like decades. And Kendal didn't make it any easier on me with his many fake proposals! Haha that boy. But on this day, we for reals got ENGAGED. It was the happiest moment and yes, I cried.

December 30th, 2015

After what felt like ages, we were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. The entire day was absolutely perfect....truly something out of a dream. We have the most incredible support system and my whole being was spilling over the top with the most love I have ever felt! This day began our happily ever after and I intend for this blog to be filled with the many wonderful chapters our story will have.
